Our Story

The Wild Goose Collective

The Wild Goose Collective grew out of the work of The Harbour at Riondel, a ministry rooted in hospitality, creativity, and the pursuit of God’s presence.

In Celtic Christian tradition, the Holy Spirit was often called the Wild Goose-untamed, mysterious, and impossible to control. Following the Wild Goose meant stepping into a journey of faith, creativity, and trust.

This collective is a gathering of people who share that same pursuit. Through ceramics, painting, music, and handmade work, we create as an act of worship and invitation.

Every piece shared here helps support the mission and ongoing work of The Harbour at Riondel.

Formation

Artists create and lead through discipleship.

At The Harbour, during Headwaters Discipleship Program, creativity is woven into our discipleship journey. Participants engage in ceramics, painting, and craft as practices that help them pay attention to God, grow in patience, and learn to express faith through creativity. We use art as a way to invite people into reflection, worship, and community.

Vocation

Artists sustain themselves and the mission through their craft.

The work created through the Wild Goose Collective does more than express faith-it helps sustain it. Artists continue developing their craft beyond the program, sharing and selling their work through the collective. In doing so, they support both their own creative vocation and the ongoing mission and ministry of The Harbour at Riondel.

How It All Connects

The Harbour at Riondel is the place from which all these expressions have grown. What began as a place of hospitality and spiritual formation has expanded into several initiatives that serve both our community and those who come to learn, create, and seek God.

Through retreats and guest rentals, we welcome individuals and groups into a space of rest, reflection, and renewal.

Our two-month Headwaters Discipleship program gathers participants for a season of intentional formation. The artists involved in the Wild Goose Collective serve during this time-mentoring, teaching, and creating alongside participants before continuing their creative work throughout the rest of the year.

Our outward presence in the community takes shape through Ro. Neighbourhood Coffee, a ministry coffee shop in Riondel. It’s a place of everyday connection where good coffee, conversation, and hospitality help draw more people into the story and mission of The Harbour.

Together, these expressions form one shared vision: creating spaces where people can encounter Jesus, grow in community, and live out their calling.
